DEADLINE: Knight Foundation Grants for Sustainable Publishing Solutions

Event Date:
March 8, 2020

The Knight Foundation has launched a three-year, $2 million initiative to help underserved news organizations access more sustainable publishing solutions.

In its first year, this program will offer a one-time subsidy grant of $20,000 to 25 publishers that can be applied to the adoption or management of a Content Management System (CMS) of their choice. Nonprofit newsrooms and/or newsrooms that serve underrepresented communities are invited to apply through Mar 8, 2020.

This initiative will help publishers leverage technology to increase their revenue, membership and audience engagement — and allow them to more effectively reach the communities they serve.

The call for applications will be managed by News Revenue Hub, which helps publishers build membership revenue, grow audiences and develop sustainable business practices.

Plus, alongside the initiative, Poynter and News Catalyst at Temple University will give public overviews and demonstrations of major digital publishing tools on the market. Together, they’ll share insights on Content Management Systems that also provide strong business solutions for publishers.
