Meet SEJ member Julie Halpert! Julie is an award-winning freelance journalist with more than three decades of experience writing regularly for many of the nation’s most widely respected publications, including The New York Times, CNBC, Business Insider, The Wall Street Journal and The Atlantic. She has deep experience covering the intersection of the environment with the automotive industry and has written about the future of self-driving cars. She's also covered many facets of climate change policy as well as initiatives by cities to become sustainable, local pipeline disputes and the ways schools are coping with aging lead pipes.

Julie is a founding member of the Society of Environmental Journalists and has been covering environmental issues since SEJ's inception. She recommends membership to her colleagues because, "the organization provides so many resources to those trying to navigate this beat. And it's just the nicest group of people you'll ever meet. They're so humble and willing to help."
