The Institute for Journalism & Natural Resources invites journalists to Milwaukee, Aug 6-7, 2017, for a workshop exploring the federal budget proposal and its potential impact in the Great Lakes. Lodging and meals included for $25. Lodging deadline is Jul 17. Journalists that don't require lodging can register until the 20-person cap is reached.

One U.S.-based journalist will be selected on the quality of story idea for a 19-day reporting trip in Japan in the fall 2017, organized by the International Center for Journalists. Examples of issues that journalists could explore include business, trade, energy, culture, immigration and climate change.

The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) led by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network is offering Fellowship opportunities for journalists to attend the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP 23) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in Bonn, Germany in mid-November 2017. The Science of Innovation Summit for Journalists at the University of Chicago, Nov 5-8, 2017, offers professional science and technology journalists a respite from deadlines and insight into pressing subjects, such as climate and energy science, the microbiome, advanced batteries, precision medicine and more. Alfred Friendly Press Partners is planning a month-long training program at the Missouri School of Journalism for journalists in exile in the U.S. The program is looking to build skills and resiliency in these areas: Security, Legal, Journalism and Climate. Deadline: Jan 15, 2024.

Poynter will host a free one-day workshop to discuss the key challenges of reporting the facts about science at its campus in St. Petersburg, Florida.
